chapter 6
Long time has passed, my thoughts were too distracting so I couldn’t sleep as I laid upon the comfortable seat. Everyone was asleep, I could hear Lara’s snoring, it was so annoying that it was probably the actual reason why I couldn’t sleep. Either way, the plane was set to automatic, because there were no other pilots to replace Pastel so she could get rest. I had been wondering for awhile, I’ve been picturing the lab a.k.a ‘central’ the whole time, but the results were no similar to my expectations.
We arrived at the central, it was in the middle of nowhere, in Colorado to be exact. If you looked at from the distance, there would be nothing to see, in fact it was underground. The plane landed on a flat surface, it was just a normal landing field, except it was way smaller. After we successfully landed, there was an earthquake, except it wasn’t an earthquake. As the surface shook, the small landing field slowly stashed itself in the ground, a light was glowing beneath us, down underground where we could see nothing but dirt, above us on the other hand, the sunlight was being covered by automatic metal doors. I could die from fear, we slowly moved downwards like we were on an elevator, until we stopped as we were in the landing area in the central. I could see other planes similar to ours, resting in their place. Apparently there were other landing fields, except they were underground.
‘Welcome to our home’ Pastel said
We smiled from excitement, but deep inside I had a really bad feeling about this, there were many people dressed in white, some wore red nitrile rubber gloves, and even some of them wore golden badges on their clothes.
‘So we’re in the central now?’ Lara asked
‘Not quite, we’re in the plane area, it’s 1 kilometer away from the actual center – you see the CSSIOR lab in Colorado is the biggest, so we have to sort things out, that’s why different, specific places in the lab are divided from the actual central by few meters or kilometers. ‘
‘So how are we going to get to the central?’ I asked
‘Follow me and see’ she said
Pastel, Addyln, Lara, Sofija and I, went to the dressing room to get our clothes, we got black boots, a weird hand wear – a black leather fingerless gloves and white wear, which was a normal wear everyone in the society had. I didn’t have a chance to ask why, we rushed to the middle part of the plane area. There was nothing there, we stood and looked around, confused until Pastel spoke a command
‘Hello operator, please teleport to central from plane area T76S’ Pastel said
‘ T-Teleport?!’ I yelled
‘Just stay calm, it’s gonna be fine’ Addyln encouraged me
It was just a moment, a moment of nothing, I could feel literally nothing, just like I didn’t even exist. We teleported to the 4th teleportation area in the central, it was a big, big laboratory full of white lights, mirrors, and weird devices I’ve never seen before. ‘Welcome back Addyln, you too Ana!’ Nevena said. Nevena, was actually the daughter of the greatest scientists of all, Mrs. Marija Jokanovic, she was the great well-known scientist, sadly she died in one of her experiments. Nevena was a nice, innocent person, just like her mother, people believe she will be the next great scientist, but Nevena never wanted to. She greeted us all with her smile.
I loved her words, however something shook my head Ana? Who's Ana? Is that Pastel's real name?
‘Oh! Who are these new ones here?’ she asked
‘Let me introduce you to Sara, Lara and Sofija, it’s them’ Addyln said ‘Guys, this is Nevena’
‘Nice to meet you. Anyways, where are we going?’ Nevena questioned politely
‘They need to our newest project, after all it’s for them’ Pastel replied
Nevena just nodded with an excitement in her wide smile, she walked us to a small hall on our left, we walked to the the nearest office for equipment, it was room AYY-LMAO1 on the right side in the hall. She politely asked us to wait outside as she entered the room.
We stood there and waited for approximately 10 minutes, Nevena came back holding some kind of plastic cards in her hand.
‘Here, this is for you three’ she said as she handed a card for each one of us
It was confusing, she smiled and continued walking out of the hall, we all followed her, Sofija put her card in her pocket, Lara gave it to Addyln to guide it for her because she didn’t have any pockets, but I, I kept it in my hand. It was a normal plastic card, I examined it quite carefully.
On the back, there was nothing but a black stripe, apparently it was just like the credit cards, however on the right side there was something that caught my eye
ID NUMBER: 2020241181
NAME: SARA TOMIC
GENDER: FEMALE
3rd REPLACEMENT OF 5
SPECIAL ACCESS TO: SILVER HAND 1 AND 3’
It made me wonder, what did ‘3rd replacement of 5’ mean, and what is ‘silver hand 1 and 3’?
I walked slowly, following Nevena, but I couldn’t hide my curiosity
‘Nevena, what is this card for?’ I asked
Nevena looked at me and giggled for a second
‘You will find out yourself’
